Position Description

This nursing opportunity emphasizes specialized care in a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located in Appleton, WI. The role requires a minimum of three years of NICU experience, preferably with exposure to Level III NICU settings, and familiarity with EPIC charting software. Nurses will provide comprehensive care for neonates 32 weeks and older, care for feeders and growers, manage jaundice, NAS babies, and provide short-term ventilation support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care to NICU patients including those with NAS and vent support under 24 hours
  • Stabilize and prepare neonates for transport
  • Assist and support during complicated deliveries such as C-sections, twins, and VBACs
  • Manage patient lines and provide medication administration as necessary
  • Adhere to NRP and BLS protocols ensuring patient safety and emergency responsiveness
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and support staff
  • Utilize EPIC for accurate, timely documentation and charting
  • Participate in weekend rotations approximately every other weekend, with variable holiday scheduling

Qualifications And Experience

  • Valid RN license with current BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Minimum of 3 years NICU nursing experience; Level III NICU exposure preferred
  • Experience managing lines, ventilators (short-term), and NAS treatment protocols
  • Comfortable with EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Strong ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
