Live, Online. Meets once a week for seven weeks. This course is designed for providers with no formal background or very little knowledge of Spanish who would like to apply new Spanish skills in the clinical setting. It is a first course in Spanish progressively merging the very basic grammatical structures needed to communicate in Spanish with a health care terminology based on cognates, verbs, adjectives, and other words and expressions. In this course, clinicians will learn parts of the body, numbers, the alphabet, articles, gender and number agreement, clinical vocabulary, the most basic common expressions: “greetings’ and ‘farewells” applied in conversations through formulation of questions and answers and role play dialogue. General focus is a simple conversational Spanish based on learning the present tense of regular and some irregular verbs, prepositions a, de. This course will help prepare those who are interested in pursuing the Clinical Spanish Certificate.
